Business Unit Overview:
The Wealth Advisory Group is a newly formed practice within Wealth Management at New York Life, designed to serve the complex financial needs of our most sophisticated clients. This team delivers a fully integrated wealth management experience that extends beyond traditional investment advice, with services that span tax strategy, risk protection, philanthropy, and intergenerational wealth transfer solutions. Through a personalized, concierge level approach, this team provides clients with tailored financial solutions and a suite of exclusive benefits designed to deepen relationships, expand multi product solutioning, and help families build lasting financial legacies across generations.
Role Overview:
The Director, Head of Investment Strategy, Wealth Advisory role is a leadership position within the Wealth Advisory Group, working closely with the Head of Wealth Advisory, and the broader group leadership team. This individual is responsible for managing strategic relationships with third-party asset managers and platform providers to support the design and delivery of customized investment models that address the complex needs of clients with investable assets of $5 million or more.
The role sits at the intersection of investment strategy, platform due diligence, and relationship management, and will be critical to the evolution of the Wealth Advisory Group, helping to ensure alignment with business priorities, client goals, and market conditions.
What You’ll Do:
- Build and manage relationships with the Wealth Advisory Outsourced Chief Investment Officer (OCIO), external asset managers, and investment platforms and research providers.
- Oversee the design and implementation of multi-asset model portfolios and unified managed account strategies in partnership with the Outsourced Chief Investment Officer (OCIO).
- Assist with product access and partnership strategies to optimize client outcomes.
- Align investment offerings with client segmentation and evolving market trends.
- Lead the coordination, distribution, and facilitation of all investment research materials, market impact analyses, and portfolio model changes to ensure internal stakeholders and clients are well educated and remain informed.
- Collaborate with third-party investment managers and internal product and research teams to ensure models adhere to regulatory, fiduciary, and operational standards.
- Act as the subject matter expert for portfolio construction, investment manager selection, and investment platform strategy.
- Partner closely with the Head of Wealth Advisory, Wealth Advisory Client Coverage Team, and OCIO portfolio strategists to ensure seamless delivery of client solutioning.
- Champion a deliberate, forward-looking strategic perspective to ensure the investment approach is thoughtfully positioned and consistently aligned with the firm’s Wealth Advisory value proposition.
- Provide thought leadership on capital markets, portfolio theory, and innovation in investment solutions.
What You’ll Bring:
- Bachelor’s degree from accredited university in Finance, Economics, Business Administration, or related field.
