The roleOur client is growing quickly, and the business has become more complex than its finance function was built to handle. The company needs an interim CFO who can come in right away, take ownership of cash and liquidity, and give the CEO clear financial insight for decisions that can't wait. You'll work closely with the CEO, senior leadership and the company's third-party accounting firm.
The assignment is hands-on. You'll assess what's in place, then set the priorities that bring structure and discipline to finance ahead of the company's next stage.
Our client is an energy company in the New York metro with about $20M in revenue and strong growth. It relies on a third-party accounting firm for day-to-day accounting. This is an interim engagement.
What you'll do- Cash and liquidity
- Take ownership of cash flow management and short-term liquidity planning Build and maintain a short-term cash forecast that identifies funding needs
- Evaluate working capital needs in light of the company's growth Give leadership early visibility into cash needs and risks
- Reporting and close
- Review the balance sheet and income statement for accuracy, completeness and appropriate accounting treatment, and drive remediation of gaps
- Partner with the accounting firm to deliver a faster, more efficient monthly close
- Leadership
- Serve as strategic financial partner to the CEO and senior leadership team Find opportunities to improve profitability and overall financial performance
- CFO or senior finance executive experience in fast-growing, entrepreneurial companies
- Strong cash flow, liquidity and working capital management skills
- Experience improving financial reporting and accelerating the monthly close
- Deep balance sheet and P&L expertise
- Experience working with outsourced or third-party accounting providers
- A record of professionalizing a finance function as a company grows
- Strong executive presence and communication skills
- A hands-on approach, with comfort operating on incomplete information and tight timelines
