Policy Manager - Community Solar | New York | $140-160K + Benefits

Are you a solar policy expert who can turn regulatory changes into market opportunities? We're working with a leading community solar developer that needs a Policy Manager who spots regulatory shifts before competitors do - and translates them into business advantage.

This isn't about writing position papers. This is strategic policy work that directly impacts where the business builds next.

• Track state regulatory proceedings and legislation - then tell Real Estate, Development, and Asset Management teams what it means for the business
• Spot opportunities early (e.g., changing brownfield definitions = new project sites before competitors know)
• Coordinate with internal teams to formulate policy positions and support regulatory filings
• Manage policy in established markets to protect revenue and identify expansion opportunities

• Coordinate with trade associations and other community solar companies on industry positions
• Support VP of Policy in engaging with commissioners, legislators, and governors' staff
• Develop memos, fact sheets, and policy analysis for policymakers
• Represent the company with industry groups

Must-Haves:

• 3-5+ years in solar/electric sector policy (ideally community solar or distributed energy)
• Direct experience with state-level PUC proceedings and regulatory filings
• Multi-state policy knowledge (NY, NJ, MA, IL, etc.)
• Business-minded - you understand how policy impacts project economics
• Can translate complex regulatory changes for non-policy people

Red Flags:

• Only federal policy experience
• Pure lobbyist with no technical solar knowledge
• Can't connect policy to business impact

• $140-160K base + full benefits
• New York-based (close to development team)
• Hybrid: 4 days in office (negotiable for the right person)
• Desktop-based work with external stakeholder engagement
• Job security: Growing company in a tough market
