CARETAKER P (HA) – City of New York
Duration: 18 months with possibility of extension.
The New York City Housing Authority (NYCHA) is the Nation’s oldest and largest public housing authority, administering over 177,000 apartments and a Section 8 leased housing program that serves more than 200,000 tenants. NYCHA’s mission is to provide quality, sustainable, inclusive and safe housing for New Yorkers while fostering opportunities for economic mobility. The Healthy Homes Department seeks a Caretaker P to perform the following duties:
- Mix plastering materials properly.
- Apply plastering materials to interior and exterior surfaces (using hawk, trowel, Darby, slicker; working dots and screeds); apply plaster coats (scratch, brown and finish).
- Lay and plaster bases (channel iron, wire lath, etc.).
- Perform dust control and clean up.
Employees will be required to pass a job‑skill competency assessment before appointment. Caretaker Ps appointed are encouraged to gain knowledge for career advancement to Plasterer.
Assignments will be made throughout the five boroughs.
