Assistant Analyst / Analyst – Social Services
OverviewThe Mayor’s Office of Management and Budget (OMB) oversees the City’s financial planning. Within OMB’s Social Services Task Force, the Social Services Unit manages budget and capital projects for six social service agencies, including the Department of Social Services (DSS) and the Department of Homeless Services (DHS). This Analyst role supports DHS’s mission to prevent homelessness, provide emergency shelter, and transition families into permanent housing.
Responsibilities- Conduct program and budget analysis for DHS programs such as Personal Services and Administrative Services.
- Monitor and forecast funding and expenditures within assigned program areas.
- Review program operations and performance, recommending cost‑efficiency and service‑outcome improvements.
- Represent OMB at meetings and program reviews with agencies and external stakeholders.
- Prepare and present analytical reports on related programmatic and budgetary issues.
- Analyze the fiscal impact of legislative and regulatory changes governing these areas.

Assistant Analyst – $60,764+:
Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Economics or a related field with no or one year of full‑time experience in budgetary planning, financial analysis, public policy analysis, or a related field.
Analyst – $77,327:
Bachelor’s degree and a minimum of two years of full‑time experience in budgetary planning, financial analysis, public policy analysis, or a related field, or a Master’s degree in Business, Public Policy Administration, Finance, Economics, or a related field.
- Baccalaureate degree from an accredited college.
