NOTICE: This position is only open to current NYPD employees.
The mission of the New York Police Department is to enhance the quality of life in New York City by working in partnership with the community to enforce the law, preserve peace, and protect the people. The Sixth Precinct is located in the borough of Manhattan under Patrol Borough Manhattan South and serves the southwestern Manhattan neighborhoods of Greenwich Village, the Meatpacking District, and the West Village.
Job Functions- Supervises all School Crossing Guards in the assigned area within the 6th Precinct command.
- Monitors attendance, work assignments, and schedules for School Crossing Guards.
- Transports School Crossing Guards to and from uncovered posts.
- Prepares reports, forms, memos, lists, cards, and other documentation.
- Conducts evaluations and training duties for School Crossing Guards.
- Is capable of performing required tours and duties within the assigned borough.
- Must possess a valid NYS Driver's License (Recommendation from Commanding Officer to Level II position).
- Above standards rating from last two performance evaluations.
- Exemplary sick record.
- Exemplary discipline record.
- Knowledge of Microsoft Excel and Word.
New York City residency is generally required within 90 days of appointment. However, City Employees in certain titles who have worked for the City for two continuous years may also be eligible to reside in Nassau, Suffolk, Putnam, Westchester, Rockland, or Orange County. To determine if the residency requirement applies to you, please discuss with the agency representative at the time of interview.
