nyc department of finance (dof) is responsible for administering the tax revenue laws of the city fairly, efficiently, and transparently to instill public confidence and encourage compliance while providing exceptional customer service.

dof's treasury and payment services division is responsible for overseeing all city payment websites, the payment processing of tax returns, property recording forms, parking violation programs, and the collection of delinquent accounts, and oversees the agency’s management of the city’s cash balances and its relationships with banking institutions. Treasury and payment services is also responsible for collecting outstanding violations issued by city agencies and adjudicated by the environmental control board.

the court assets unit manages and safeguards court funds originating from cash bail or court & trust cases. The treasury court assets team is responsible for the recording court deposits, as well as the timely and accurate disbursement of funds. The court assets unit also manages and prepares the annual abandonment of unclaimed court funds to new york state. The unit works closely with the courts, correctional facilities, public administrators, bank representatives and the public.

Treasury’s court assets unit is seeking a detail-oriented, and self-starting individual, to serve as a court assets customer service representative, acting as the cash bail customer service liaison. This position requires a great deal of customer interaction. The ideal candidate must possess exceptional customer service skills and be technologically savvy. Reporting directly to the bail supervisor, the selected candidate’s duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:

  • serve as liaison between the court assets unit and the public, at the manhattan business center window. Providing exceptional community services, to improve communication between the community and court assets.
  • respond to daily customer service telephone inquiries, from the courts, attorneys, sureties, and the public.
  • assist the public with the completion and submission of cash bail forms.
  • assist the cash bail community with locating sureties and bail forms.
  • educate the cash bail community with various cash bail processes.
  • review, process, and file all incoming cash bail forms.
  • open and date-stamp incoming court assets mail.
  • scan and record receipt of incoming mail, into the mail database.
  • assist customers with return checks and check pick-ups.
  • maintain and organizing the file room for easy retrieval of cash bail case folders.

in compliance with federal law, all persons hired will be required to verify identity and eligibility to work in the united states and to complete the required employment eligibility verification document form upon hire.

this position may be eligible for remote work up to 2 days per week, pursuant to the remote work pilot program agreed between the city and the collective bargaining unit representing employees serving in the civil service title.
