Job Summary

Position Title: Peer Specialist

Position Summary: To serve as a person's individual advocate, develop opportunities for skill development and assure that the person's choices drive their goals and plans.

Employment Details
  • Employment Type:

    Part time
  • Shift: Weekend Shift (Saturday – Sunday)
  • Schedule:

    8:00 am – 6:30 pm
  • Hours:

    20 hours per week
  • Initial training will be during the week.
  • A valid NYS driver license is required.
  • Pay Range: $18.50 – $26.85 per hour
Responsibilities
  • Advocate for individuals, facilitating skill development and empowering clients to achieve their recovery goals.
  • Participate in orientation, continuing education, and yearly competency updates.
  • Maintain and update knowledge and skills related to specific areas of expertise.
  • Complete population‑specific competency assessments annually for populations served within scope.
  • Provide peer support and community resources in a clinical and rehabilitation setting.
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent (GED) required.
  • Certified Peer Specialist or possession of provisional certification through NY York Peer Specialists (NYCPS) or the New York Peer Specialist Certification Board (NYPSCB).
  • Understanding of recovery concepts and person‑centered approaches; ability to implement them in own recovery.
  • Physical: medium work; must be able to lift, bend, stoop, push, and pull.
  • Exposure to blood, body fluids, excretions, or secretions (Class I).
