Mental Health Therapist

Job Summary

Provide direct services to FLACRA’s clients via individual, family and group counseling.

• Masters level education in the appropriate field with ability with licensure or ability to immediately gain provisional status within 6 months of hire.
• Valid NYS Drivers License.
• Licensed as a LMHC, LMSW, or LCSW; LCAT preferred.

• Provide direct diagnostic evaluative services to clients referred to this Agency by many varied referral sources; assess the client’s primary and secondary diagnosis and, thus, need for further counseling.
• Supply identified clients direct therapeutic services through individual, conjoint, family and/or group therapy.
• With self‑direction and competence, carry out the Agency’s responsibilities to its clientele; handle intake and service load with independent judgment using self‑initiated consultation in technical problems of diagnostic evaluation in treatment techniques.
• Maintain records in compliance with applicable regulations and policies.
• Participate in community presentations and training programs as needed.
• Participate in general, staff, in‑service and supervisory meetings held by the Agency or counseling staff.
• Provide training as needed to new staff and interns.
• Perform other functions as directed.

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively and work cooperatively with culturally diverse persons, staff and community service providers.
• Knowledge of local behavioral health service system.
• Ability to multi‑task, have good problem‑solving & time‑management skills and the ability to remain calm in a crisis.
• Experience with E‑Record.
