Interventional/Cardiac Cath Radiologist Technologist - Per Diem
POSITION SUMMARY
Performs all technical duties of requested Interventional Procedures/Cardiac procedures. Assists the Radiologist/Cardiologists in the performance of these exams. Must have an excellent knowledge of all Interventional/Cardiac Procedures. Must follow and establish when necessary, quality Assurance and Quality Control policies and procedures pertinent to Interventional /Cardiac procedures. Obtain necessary information from Doctor’s offices. Must possess expertise in setting up and managing sterile and aseptic fields.
Must keep accurate records of Interventional Procedures, including necessary equipment chart documentation, patient logs and examination outcomes. Order supplies when needed. Ready for any type of inspection. Maintain and exhibit behavior that promotes patient confidence and trust. Capable of working independently/unsupervised. Responsibilities and duties may be added, changed or deleted at any time at the discretion of the Assistant Director or Director of Radiology, either verbally or in writing.
- Possesses expertise in the operation of Interventional/Cardiac Procedure equipment and monitoring devices.
- Demonstrates proficiency in the performance of all Interventional/Cardiac Procedures.
- Verifies correct patient for procedure by checking name on patient’s requisitions with the name on patient’s name band.
- Explains procedure to the patient before exam is performed. Answers questions completely in lay terminology.
- Correctly labels images with patient identification.
- Prepares or enters written documentation as required by the Department, such as informed consents, patient chart documentation, and other related functions.
- Checks equipment, supplies and accessories on a regular basis. Maintains orderliness and cleanliness of work areas .
- Completes requested examinations in a timely manner, utilizing professional technical skills efficiently.
- Assists the Radiologist with the performance of Interventional/Cardiac Procedure in a professional and dedicated manner.
- Performs routine radiographic examinations when necessary or directed.
- Observes other Hospital rules, policies and regulations with regard to the following areas: attendance, punctuality, attitude and appearance.
- Responsibilities and duties may be added, change or deleted at any time at the discretion of the Assistant/Direction of Radiology either verbally or in writing .
- Sends images to PACS including evaluating images for technical quality .
- Must complete all requested examinations in a timely manner, observing radiation and safety standards. Utilize professional skills efficiently .
- Proper use of power injector .
- Maintain confidentiality of all patient information including electronic and requisitions .
- Follows infection control practices and procedures for safety of patients, co‑workers, and self. Adheres to established BSI policies and procedures.
- Keeps work areas clean, is compliant with Infection Control Policies.
- Follows hospital hand washing policy—demonstrates appropriate hand washing.
- Disposes of sharps, medications, and medical waste in accordance with hospital policy.
- High School Graduate.
- Graduate of a Radiology Program.
- NYSDOH License ARRT.
- Current BLS provider certification from the American Heart Association required.
- Computer knowledge preferred.
- ARRT Certification in Vascular Interventional Radiography (Preferred) or minimum of 3 years experience in this specialty.
- This position may require prolonged periods of standing, walking, lifting, pulling and/or positioning and transferring of patients.
- Lifts supplies and equipment, moves heavy equipment. Open communications with Drs. Office. Obtains proper pre‑op testing.
As part of employment at Southampton Hospital, there may be occasions when travel to other locations is needed to support operational needs.
