Job DescriptionThe Department of Medical Laboratory Science at Farmingdale State College is seeking applicants for a full‑time tenure‑track Assistant Professor position.
Candidates must have at least a Master’s Degree in health science, education, or a field related to laboratory medicine, certification as a Medical Technologist (MT)/Medical Laboratory Scientist (MLS) from the American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP), New York State Clinical Laboratory Technologist license, and a minimum of three years clinical laboratory experience. Preference will be given to applicants who have an earned doctorate in health science, education or a field related to laboratory medicine, as well as expertise as a Generalist in the field, academic teaching experience, and experience as an instructor in a clinical laboratory setting.
Faculty may be expected to teach in multiple formats including hybrid, online, and traditional face‑to‑face classes.
All faculty members at Farmingdale State College have three workload components: teaching, research and scholarly activity, and service. Candidates should have a research agenda that complements their area of academic specialty resulting in peer‑reviewed publications, which are necessary for promotion and tenure at Farmingdale State College. We also are interested in candidates with a history of, or interest in, pursuing external funding for their research.
The successful candidate will demonstrate an interest and high level of competence in teaching. The service component of the workload includes student advising and participation on committees.
The completion of a doctoral degree is required for tenure.

This is a 10‑month UUP faculty position.
- For the first 10 working days, beginning Thursday, October 23, 2025, and ending Saturday, November 1, 2025, applications will be limited to UUP Farmingdale.
