Job Summary:
SUNY Upstate is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Child Life Specialist
to be part of Upstate's Pediatric Child Life Team working to support the Pediatric patients and families in the Evening hours.
Key Responsibilities:
Provide developmental and psychosocial support for pediatric patients and families.
Assess children's developmental and coping needs.
Provide preparation, age appropriate diversion andmotional support to minimize distress associated with hospitalization and/or medical encounters.
Collaborates as a member of an interdisciplinary health care team.
Minimum Qualifications:Bachelor's degree in Child Life,Child Development, Psychology or related field.
Must have completed a Child Life Internship under the direct supervision of a Certified Child Life Specialist.
Current Certified Child Life Specialist (CCLS) credential requiredor ability to obtain certification within one year of hire.
Preferred Qualifications:Master's Degree preferred.
Work Days:Evenings-Monday - Friday, with one weekend a month
