A teaching and research hospital that has been providing services since 1867 is looking for a Physician Assistant in the surgery department. Competitive salary, benefits, and sign-on bonus are offered.

Physician Assistant

The candidate will be the first assistant in surgery and will perform first assist duties, including ensuring all needed equipment and supplies are present. Responsibilities include writing orders in the recovery room, communicating with families, visiting patients, performing post-op procedures, and more.

Additional duties include dictating discharge summaries, writing prescriptions, explaining discharge instructions, confirming follow-up appointments, and performing comprehensive and problem-focused histories and physical examinations. The role involves diagnosing and treating illnesses and injuries, ordering and interpreting laboratory and radiographic studies, educating and counseling patients, and assisting with emergency care.

The PA will facilitate patient referrals, conduct daily hospital rounds, write orders and progress notes, perform admission history and physicals, evaluate clinical conditions, and develop treatment plans. Discharge planning and summaries are also part of the responsibilities.
