Job Description

JOB WEIGHTING:

  • 40% Responsible for all medical affairs activities in the therapeutic area.
  • 40% Responsible for scientific exchange with external experts in the therapeutic area.
  • 20% Responsible for recruiting, coaching, managing MSL for team development and medical strategy execution.
Requirements
  • Medical Degree, MD or PhD is a plus.
  • Strong background in clinical practice.
  • Previous medical affairs pharmaceutical or biopharmaceutical industry experience is essential.
  • A demonstrated understanding of drug development and commercialization processes, regulatory environment, clinical trials, trial design, and safety and efficacy balance.
  • Knowledge of pharmaceutical industry code, regulatory and legal requirements (GCP, GPP, advertising, confidentiality, Helsinki, animal welfare).
  • High integrity, strong work ethics, compliant behavior.
  • Budget planning and execution.
  • Collaborative, team-oriented approach to key external stakeholders; experience in cross‑functional teams and matrix organizations.
  • Strong communication and presentation skills.
  • Independent worker with limited guidance.
  • Support medical and clinical activities across functions.
Qualifications
  • Responsible for all medical affairs activities and project management in the therapeutic area.
  • Lead brand/indication medical functional plans, educational activities, evidence/insights generation, and engagement plans.
  • Build connections with external and internal stakeholders, provide strategic input to commercial plans and pipeline development.
  • Recruit, retain, and coach high‑potential employees.
  • Plan and manage budget for the therapeutic area.
  • Establish medical and scientific knowledge management and training for Abb Vie products.
  • Provide medical support, develop collaborative relationships with external experts.
  • Align with local objectives and contribute to brand teams.
  • Act as lead or key contributor on crisis management, risk management, label changes, patient complaint handling, and market access initiatives.
