Director Credentialing – Hospital for Special Surgery
Hospital for Special Surgery (HSS) is a top‑ranked orthopedics and rheumatology facility. We seek a Director Credentialing to lead and manage credentialing processes across our campuses.
Key Responsibilities- Exercise leadership by overseeing coordinators and managing credentialing processes for HSS Medical Staff, Allied Health Professional Staff, and Graduate Medical Education Staff.
- Manage operations of the credentialing office and assume departmental leadership as needed.
- Meet with faculty to review new program requests and delineation of privileges.
- Coach and develop staff in primary‑source verification, payer enrollment, and data integrity.
- Set measurable KPIs for turnaround time, accuracy, productivity, and compliance.
- Manage capacity during peak volumes, reappointments, and onboarding cycles.
- Act as liaison between trainees, external GME offices, departmental offices, legal affairs, and occupational health & safety.
- Maintain credentialing documentation, database, and malpractice records per NYS law.
- Guide staff through internal and external audits, providing coaching based on findings.
- Participate in Education Institute projects and other departmental initiatives.
- Perform other duties and special projects as assigned.
- 5–7 years of experience in healthcare/medical administration.
- Bachelor’s degree (BA, BS, BSN, BSW). Preferred:
Master’s degree. - Proven supervisory ability, knowledge of healthcare processes, and strong oral and written communication skills.
- Excellent organizational, problem‑solving, and skills for managing complex credentialing workflows.
- Preferred certification: CPCS.
- Physical requirements:
Standing or sitting; may involve light lifting (≤10 lbs).
Environmental conditions:
indoor area with mild dust, fumes, temperature, and noise exposure.
Base pay range: $84,000 – $127,875, with additional benefits. Salary determined on selection based on factors such as scope of role, level of experience, education, accomplishments, and budget.
