St. Joseph Hospital, a not-for-profit acute care facility, provides comprehensive inpatient and outpatient medical, critical care and surgical services.
Job Details Responsibilities- The phlebotomist performs phlebotomy on patients following established laboratory policy and technique, including courteous interaction, proper labeling and identification, disposing of needles, and exercising universal safety precautions.
- Assist in other laboratory functions and process specimens.
- Operate the Lab LIS and handle all phone calls.
- Respond promptly to requests to perform phlebotomy within established acceptable time frames; access test requests in LIS and reference lab systems.
- Prepare samples for analysis—centrifugation, bar coding, distribution, and processing.
- Review request forms for completion and compliance.
- Prepare phlebotomy tray with blood collection items for use.
- Initiate learning through on-the-job training and in-service programs.
- Participate in the Departmental Q.A. program.
- Deal with the public—answering telephones, interacting with physicians’ offices—in a courteous and professional manner.
- High School diploma or equivalent;
Phlebotomy Certification desired. - BLS Certification from the American Heart Association required.
- Prior hospital experience preferred.
USD $24.92 per hour.
