Responsibilities
  • Provide speech and language services for patients as ordered by physicians or authorized at IFSP (EI only).
  • Evaluate speech, language, swallowing, and voice disorders and provide differential diagnosis using formal and informal assessments.
  • Use therapeutic devices and other means to maintain or restore speech and language capabilities.
  • Plan, instruct, and supervise patients, families, and other health‑care providers in the use of specific exercises and equipment.
  • Assist with referrals to related services.
  • Provide counseling and guidance to speech/language impaired individuals and families.
  • Submit initial assessment reports indicating patient functioning, short and long‑term goals.
  • Submit progress notes after each session describing treatment, modalities, progress, and patient response.
  • Submit monthly progress summaries for EI only.
  • Submit discharge summaries at time of discharge.
  • Maintain communication with physicians and other caregivers through written reports, meetings, and documented calls.
  • Coordinate care through the nurse.
  • Refer to speech‑therapy policies for required documentation.
  • Participate in interdisciplinary case‑management conferences and in‑service programs.
Education & Experience
  • Master’s degree in Speech‑Language Pathology.
  • Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC) by ASHA or in pursuit of ASHA CCC.
  • State license in Speech‑Language Pathology (depending on location).
  • Proficiency in autism/developmental disabilities.
  • Basic computer skills including Microsoft Office, Windows, Central Reach, and other relevant software.
  • Familiarity with AAC preferred.
