Mission Statement
The HASC Center mission is to advocate for, educate and assist individuals with developmental and intellectual challenges to make life choices, exercise independence and develop responsibility. HASC Center encourages all individuals to maximize their dreams and become productive members of the community. This is accomplished by providing an array of individual and family supports through a dedicated team of professionals and support staff.
Aboutthe Program
As a Residential staff member, you will provide support to a group of people with intellectual and developmental disabilities. You will foster increased socialization, skill building, community safety and overall independence while assisting them in developing independence and life skills.

Schedule:
Friday – Sunday, 1 pm – 9 am
- Be familiar with each individual’s IPOP, Life Plan, Staff Action Plan, Behavior Plan, etc. to understand how care is managed.
- Assist individuals with ADL and other independent living skills in accordance with plan documents. This assistance may include grooming, toileting, showering, housekeeping, budgeting, shopping, and more, tailored to the support needs of each individual.
- Promote and advocate for individualized services and implementation according to the outlined plan.
- Use a computer documentation program to chart outcomes and observations, including staff action plans, behavior data, sleep charts, log books, and more.
- Commit to person-centered supports and honor each individual’s personality, preferences, culture, and strengths.
- Ensure protective oversight is provided in accordance with the Plan of Protective Oversight.
- Accompany individuals on community outings.
- Communicate with other program staff via the communications log book and attend staff meetings.
- Work collaboratively with other staff to maintain a positive, encouraging environment.
- Adhere to all federal, state, and city regulations regarding service provision and documentation.
- Report all incidents as per HASC Center policies and procedures.
- Conduct fire drills and document results per supervisor’s instructions.
- Attend staff meetings and ongoing trainings to increase knowledge of the individuals and best practices.
- Take all required trainings and maintain certifications and driving authorization.
- Perform additional duties as assigned by supervisor.
- Encourage and accompany individuals to attend Shabbos (Sabbath) Prayers and cater to sacred religious needs.
- A High School Diploma or GED is required; some college is a plus.
- Work or life experience with intellectual/developmental disabilities is a plus.
- Basic written and verbal communication is required.
- Basic computer knowledge is required.
- Valid NY State Driver’s License may be required depending on the position.
- Tuberculosis test is mandatory for most positions.
- Interpersonal and problem-solving skills.
- Willingness to take initiative.
- Empathy when needed.
- Knowledge of Jewish Laws and Customs as it relates to the Sabbath.
