Base pay range: $35,638.00/yr – $35,638.00/yr

Outposted Therapeutic Housing Units Program (OTxHU) is a pioneering approach to safely increase access to high‑quality clinical care for incarcerated individuals with complex health conditions. The OTxHU at NYC Health + Hospitals/Bellevue in Manhattan will begin operation as early as the end of 2024.

• Provide quality mental health care to individuals incarcerated in the NYC jail system in assigned area of work.
• Conduct mental‑health evaluations, crisis intervention, assessments, and follow‑up care.
• Collaborate on determining disposition of patients for appropriate level of mental health care.
• Coordinate with Reentry Social Workers for appropriate discharge planning services.
• Complete required statistical reports.
• Collaborate with the Department of Correction to ensure access to patients, proper housing, and treatment disposition.
• Coordinate patient care with other institutional services and programs.
• Facilitate or co‑facilitate mental health group treatment.
• Complete all required documentation.
• Participate in clinical supervision with Clinical Supervisor at least once a week.
• Participate in mental health and medical rounds as assigned.
• Participate in case conferences and treatment planning for patients receiving and being considered for mental health treatment.
• May conduct psychological testing as assigned, under supervision.
• May supervise social work interns or student volunteers as assigned.
• Perform other duties as assigned by Senior/Clinical Supervisor.

• Valid license and current registration to practice as a Mental Health Counselor issued by NYSED.
• Two (2) years of full‑time, paid, professional experience providing direct client care in a behavioral health setting.
• Assignment Level II.

• Excellent diagnostic and treatment skills.
• Demonstrate knowledge of psychopathology in assessing patients in need of mental health treatment, including mental status examination and diagnosis.
• Excellent interpersonal communication skills and ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team and with NYC DOC staff.
• Flexible disposition.
• LCSW or LMHC.
