Location: New York

Clinton Residence is a 57-bed transitional treatment facility for mentally ill adult men and women with a history of chronic homelessness. The residence provides comprehensive assessments and interventions supporting the recovery model of mental illness. Once supported to attain their highest level of independence, residents are referred to appropriate levels of permanent housing.

Shift Supervisor

Program: Clinton Residence

Salary: $40,000 annual

Overall Responsibilities

Under the direction of the Program Director, the Shift Supervisor is responsible for providing direction and guidance to Front Desk/Case Aide staff as they perform the day-to-day activities of concierge and maintaining a clear and unobstructed building lobby area. Provide individual and group skills training, medication monitoring, and on and off-site socialization/recreational activities under the supervision of the Clinical Director and Program Director.

Duties And Responsibilities
  • Ensures that sufficient Front Desk/Case Aide staff is available to cover each shift, making adjustments as necessary to provide the required coverage.
  • Monitors the staff to ensure that the flow of building traffic is maintained, all visitors are announced, and Visitors Logs are completed.
  • Reviews the Front Desk Report Log to ensure that building rounds are being regularly conducted and recorded, and that breaches to building security are immediately reported.
  • Monitors that staff are reporting any unusual resident behavior, such as apparent intoxication or any bizarre behavior, to clinical staff.
  • Provides crisis intervention in the event of an emergency and contacts appropriate staff.
  • Conducts apartment inspections.
  • Provides activities of daily living (ADL) skills training, medication monitoring, and socialization/recreational activities.
  • Provides resident fire safety training; conducts self-preservation tests and oversees monthly Fire Drills and re-tests according to NYS OMH standards.
  • Escort residents to community-based appointments and assists with self-advocacy, as needed.
  • Participates in weekly clinical staff meetings, and resident Community Meetings.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by the Program Director or Clinical Director.
Qualifications
  • A High School diploma or GED and work experience as described below.
  • A minimum of three (3) years of experience working in a residential program serving individuals with mental illness and chemical addictions.
  • An ability to work with entry level staff to enhance their skills, to work cooperatively with the interdisciplinary team in order to serve the needs of residents.
  • An ability to interact well with all levels of staff, residents, and guests visiting the building.
  • Good oral, written, and listening skills.
