This role involves patient processing in all areas, including accessioning, verification, receiving, and retrieval of patient information.
Job Responsibilities- Process physician requisitions: fill out physician requisition accurately, check for correct codes, patient demographics, and requested tests, secure physician signature and/or prescription form, and efficiently direct patient to finance and phlebotomist areas.
- Enter and receive patient data: perform clerical accessioning, verify patient data in the computer according to established laboratory procedures, type information accurately, and follow instructions given by supervisor.
- Process doctors and pre‑accession requisitions on a daily basis: maintain doctors and pre‑accession requisitions in a well‑organized manner, file requisitions accurately, and keep files up to date to facilitate retrieval.
- Answer the telephone according to lab protocol: answer calls in a courteous manner, identify the department, take thorough and accurate messages, transfer calls to the correct individual based on context of inquiry, and provide accurate information to routine questions.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- High School Diploma or the equivalent.
- Effective oral, written, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Basic knowledge of a personal computer.
- Ability to type 35 wpm.
- A minimum of one year of full‑time work experience in a laboratory setting.
Knowledge of medical terminology. Qualified candidates must be able to effectively communicate with all levels of the organization.
Benefits and CompensationSalary range: $52,203.42 – $52,203.42 annually. Actual salaries depend on a variety of factors, including experience, specialty, education, and hospital need. The salary range or contractual rate listed does not include bonuses/incentive, differential pay or other forms of compensation or benefits.
