Whether you are new to working in pharmacies or are an experienced Pharmacy Technician Apply Now! The courses, learning activities, and resources provided to you in our pharmacy technician training program are designed to give you foundational and advanced knowledge, skills, and on-the-job experiences you need to prepare to become a certified pharmacy technician.
Responsibilities- Assist the pharmacist under direct supervision in the practice of pharmacy and in performance of other Pharmacy Department duties in accordance with company policies and procedures.
- Use pharmacy systems to obtain patient and drug information and process prescriptions. If PTCB certified, assist and coach pharmacy technicians in the operation of pharmacy systems and cashiers in the operation of the pharmacy cash registers.
- Model and deliver a distinctive and delightful customer experience.
- Engage customers and patients by greeting them and offering assistance with products and services. Resolve customer issues and answer questions to ensure a positive experience.
- Analyze and comply with Walgreens Co. Pharmacy Code of Conduct, Company policies and procedures.
- Utilize pharmacy systems to enter patient and drug information, verify prescriptions, fill prescriptions, and maintain workflow.
- Adhere to Good Faith Dispensing policies and report prescription errors to pharmacist.
- Handle cash register, take customers to the OTC aisle, process telephone calls, and manage manual claims for third-party programs in a timely manner.
- Assist with inventory management activities such as ordering, unpacking, and storing pharmaceutical shipments.
- Assist or coordinate clinical services, including sample labeling and coordination with external providers, and support relationships with local medical community through outreach and detailing.
- Maintain orderly pharmacy department with adequate supplies, cleanliness, and appearance.
- Complete special assignments and tasks as assigned.
- Earn or maintain PTCB certification through the designated training programs or state-required certification/registration.
- Attend managerial requested training and acquire continuing education credits.
- Maintain knowledge and skill in healthcare and pharmacy, including latest news and developments.
- Fluent in reading, writing, and speaking English.
- Willingness to work a flexible schedule, including evenings and weekends.
- Experience in a retail environment (six months or more).
- Prior work experience with Walgreens.
- Good math skills for accurate prescription filling.
- Strong computer skills.
- Knowledge of store inventory control.
- PTCB certification.
