Division/Program Summary

The Division of Disease Control’s mission is to safeguard the health of New Yorkers through identification, surveillance, treatment, control, and prevention of infectious diseases. The bureau of Public Health Clinics (BPHC) promotes a healthy community by providing resources for informed health decisions, identifying and treating tuberculosis, and offering immunization and sexual health services regardless of ability to pay or immigration status.

BPHC provides direct clinic services, monitors disease trends, offers education and training to service providers and community groups, conducts research, and develops policies and programs to deliver high-quality clinical care that best serves New Yorkers.

Job Duties and Responsibilities
  • Performs and reports quality control testing on a weekly basis in the blood room for rapid (INSTI) HIV in accordance with the policy and procedures (SOPM).
  • Performs and reports quality control testing on a weekly basis for all reagents in the blood room for rapid (INSTI) HIV in accordance with the policy and procedures (SOPM).
  • Monitors temperature for refrigerators and GC incubator.
  • Informs patients of the purpose and the type of testing. Specimens are obtained in a courteous and professional manner.
  • Specimens are stored safely and preserved in a designated area in accordance with the Bureau’s policy and procedures.
  • Maintains a clean, organized work area and is properly equipped with supplies needed.
