Our Staff Pharmacists play a critical role in cultivating a culture of excellence in their pharmacy by acting as a role model, demonstrating genuine care, and setting the bar for the pharmacy team.

Responsibilities
  • Living our purpose by helping to manage and improve patient health through safe and appropriate dispensing, counseling, and immunizing practices.
  • Taking direction from the Pharmacy Manager and overseeing the pharmacy as their proxy during bench shifts, strengthening performance measures through coaching and follow‑up of team members.
  • Assuming Pharmacy Manager’s day‑to‑day duties when serving as the only or primary pharmacist on duty.
  • Supporting safe and accurate prescription fulfillment by following pharmacy workflow procedures and ensuring the use of safety guardrails at every workstation.
  • Contributing to positive patient experiences by showing empathy, coaching the team to provide compassionate care, collaborating with the patient’s health‑care team, and proactively resolving insurance or medication issues.
  • Proactively offering and delivering immunizations, engaging Pharmacy Technicians to learn these skills.
  • Supporting the effective management of pharmacy inventory, focusing on protecting cold‑chain products.
  • Partnering with the Pharmacy Manager to ensure operations comply with state Board of Pharmacy regulations, escalating issues to the Pharmacy Manager or RxDL as needed.
  • Remaining flexible for scheduling and business needs, contributing to a safe, inclusive, engaging team dynamic, and supporting scheduling as directed.
  • Maintaining relevant clinical and technical skills for the job as the industry evolves, seeking opportunities to expand knowledge.
  • Supporting access to care and improving patient outcomes through pharmacist delivered clinical care such as testing and prescribing services where permissible.
  • Understanding and complying with all relevant federal and state laws, professional standards, and ethical principles; complying with CVS Health policies, controlled substance dispensing, record‑keeping, patient privacy, and a safe workplace.
Required Qualifications
  • Active Pharmacist License in the state where the store is located.
  • Active National Provider Identifier (NPI).
  • Not on the DEA Excluded Parties list.
Essential Functions
  • Regular and predictable attendance, including nights and weekends.
  • Ability to complete required training within the designated timeframe.
  • Attention and Focus:
    Ability to concentrate, pivot quickly between tasks, confirm prescription information and label accuracy to ensure patient safety.
  • Customer Service and Team Orientation:
    Actively seek ways to help people in a friendly manner and respond appropriately to patients’ reactions.
  • Communication

    Skills:

    Use and understand verbal and written communication with patients and colleagues;

    Practice active listening and asking questions without interrupting.
  • Mathematical Reasoning: use math to solve problems such as determining total tablets, daysupply, bottles needed.
  • Issue Resolution: identify challenging patient or colleague interactions and choose best course of action.
  • Physical Demands: mobile, remain upright for extended periods, lift and scan items, reach and lift, move fingers, control precision, stoop with use of lower extremities and back muslces, handle repetitive lifting up to 20lbs, precise visual acuity for tasks, communicate spoken instructions accurately, receive detailed oral communication, perform any additional tasks as directed.
Preferred Qualifications
  • 1–2 years of related work experience in a pharmacy,retail,medical, or customer‑service setting.
