Travel Sterile Processing Technician (SPD Tech) – Port Jefferson, NY

Start Date: 1/5/26
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Shift: 8-hour Nights
Shift Times: 11:00 PM – 7:00 AM
Schedule: Monday–Friday
On-Call: None
Care Setting: Acute Care Hospital
Facility Size: 248-bed community hospital

Seeking an experienced Sterile Processing Technician (SPD Tech) to support a busy surgical services department. The tech will work across Decontamination, Assembly, Sterilization, and OR Liaison functions.

• Disassemble, clean, sterilize, reassemble, and package instruments for the following specialties:
  Ortho, Robotics, ENT, Urology, Bariatric, GYN, IR, Neuro, Ophthalmology, Plastics, Thoracic, Vascular, Pain Management, General Surgery

• Process 20–25 trays per shift

• Work in:

  • Decontamination

  • Assembly

  • Sterilization

  • OR Liaison support

• Utilize:

  • ABACUS tracking system

  • STERIS washers and steam sterilizers

• Must be familiar with surgical instruments, including Crile, Kells, and Adson Brown forceps

Required Certification:

• CRCST (Certified Registered Central Service Technician)

Experience:

• Minimum 1 year experience in Sterile Processing

Physical Requirements:

• Ability to lift/carry 25 lbs

• Manual dexterity

• Ability to stand, bend, reach, and lift for extended periods

• Must be able to read, write, and communicate effectively in English
