Substance Use Specialist MHC-LP, LMSW, LMHC, LCSW
We are seeking a Master‑level mental health clinician to serve as a Substance Use Specialist within our Forensic Assertive Community Treatment (FACT) program at The Center for Alternative Sentencing and Employment Services (CASES).
Shift hours:
Monday – Friday, 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM (full‑time, 35 hours per week). Salary: $66,950 per year.
Location:
151 Lawrence Street, 4th Floor, Brooklyn, NY 11201. Flexible work arrangements available as staff typically report to the office and complete field work.
- Provide at least 80 % of treatment contacts in the community and complete the expected minimum monthly contacts, including leading groups when clinically indicated.
- Attend daily team meetings to discuss client clinical and case‑management issues.
- Document required by NYS Office of Mental Health (OMH), NYC Department of Health and Mental Hygiene (DOHMH), NYS Medicaid billing guidelines, and CASES ACT policy.
- Identify appropriate treatment based on severity of substance use, stages of change, immediate needs and develop person‑centered treatment plans.
- Collaborate with client support network and other service providers on planning, coordination and case management to promote recovery and stability.
- Use motivational interviewing, recovery and trauma‑informed approaches when delivering services.
- Provide clinical services that are anti‑racist, gender‑responsive, culturally humble, trauma‑informed, recovery‑oriented, client‑centered and evidence‑based.
- Complete required documentation and toxicology tests for clients with active Assisted Outpatient Treatment (AOT) orders.
- Provide 24‑hour crisis intervention on‑call services on a rotating basis.
- Deliver culturally competent services in accordance with CASES policies and practice.
- MHC‑LP, LMSW, LMHC, LCSW with current New York State license.
- Experience working with individuals with serious mental illness and/or co‑occurring substance use disorders.
- Experience with evidence‑based models for substance use and mental illness treatment.
- Team player, highly organized and self‑motivated.
- Proficient in computers.
- Lived experience encouraged.
- Experience with individuals involved in the criminal legal system.
