Position Summary: The Referrals Specialist I manages patient information at Urban Health Plan, performing insurance verification, referral management, prior authorizations, and ensuring compliance with confidentiality standards.

Minimum Qualifications:

• High School Diploma required.
• 1‑2 years of related healthcare experience with medical terminology and coding knowledge.
• Comfortable working in a high‑volume call environment.
• Bilingual Spanish/English required.
• ICD‑10 Coding certification a plus.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office.

Key Duties:

• Enter high volume of patient information and ancillary referrals via phone and fax.
• Review patient information for specialty, referral reason, ICD‑10 diagnosis, medications, etc.
• Obtain prior authorizations from patient insurance carriers.
• Respond promptly to patient requests for information.
• Ensure ongoing compliance with confidentiality standards.
• Contact external specialists and schedule appointments for patients.

Starting Compensation: $19.50 per hour (minimum and maximum). This is a full‑time position.

Applicants must be comfortable working hybrid in The Bronx with an availability of 40 hours per week, Monday‑Friday 8:00 am – 5:00 pm, with occasional Saturday shifts as needed. The schedule requires three days onsite and two days from home.
