The Specimen Processing Specialist will be responsible for performing clinical specimen accessioning, sample sorting, data entry, and specimen handling in a fast‑paced, high‑throughput environment located onsite in New York, NY.
Job Responsibilities- Prepare laboratory specimens for analysis and testing
- Communicate effectively with client office staff
- Research, troubleshoot, and resolve customer and specimen problems
- Meet department activity and production goals
- Data entry of patient information in an accurate and timely manner
- Accurately identify and label specimens
- Pack and ship specimens to proper testing facilities
- Scrub requisitions to ensure samples are prepared and missing items are updated
- Perform spinning/freezing/splitting and other special services as needed based on client requests
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- 1 year of relevant experience (lab/accessioning, production, manufacturing, or warehouse environment)
- Previous medical or patient‑facing healthcare experience is a plus
- Comfortable handling biological specimens
- Ability to accurately identify specimens
- Experience working in a team environment
- Strong data entry and organizational skills
- High level of attention to detail
- Proficient in MS Office
- Ability to lift up to 40 pounds
- Ability to pass a standardized color‑blindness test
$17.75 – $20.00 per hour
Plus 2nd shift differential.
Work ScheduleMonday – Friday 6:00 pm – 3:30 am, rotating Saturdays.
