Fusion Medical Staffing is seeking a skilled Histotechnologist (HTL)/Histology Technician (HT) for a 8 week travel assignment in Saranac Lake, NY. Required Qualifications:
• One year of recent experience as a Histotechnologist (HTL) or Histology Technician (HT)
• Valid license when needed in compliance with any state regulations
Preferred Qualifications:
• National certification through ASCP or equivalent such as AMT, AAB, HEW certifications
• Other certifications or licenses may be required for this position
Summary:
Histotechnologists (HTL)/ Histology Technicians (HT) prepare tissue samples for microscopic examination to assist pathologists in diagnosing diseases. They process, embed, section, and stain specimens using specialized techniques to ensure high-quality slides for analysis. This role requires attention to detail, technical expertise, and adherence to laboratory safety and quality standards.
Essential Work Functions:
• Receive, process, and prepare tissue specimens for microscopic examination
• Accurately differentiate between normal, reactive, infectious, and malignant cellular changes
• Perform embedding, cutting, staining, and slide preparation using specialized histology techniques
• Operate and maintain laboratory equipment, including microtomes, tissue processors, and automated staining machines
• Verify specimen accuracy and ensure proper labeling and documentation
• Follow quality control protocols to maintain consistency and reliability in slide preparation
• Assist pathologists and laboratory staff by preparing slides for special stains and immunohistochemistry procedures
• Maintain compliance with laboratory safety procedures and regulatory requirements
• Perform other duties as assigned within the scope of practice
• Adhere to hospital safety protocols, infection control guidelines, and regulatory standards
Required Essential

• The ability to read, write, & communicate in the English language is required
• Ability to read/comprehend written instructions, follow verbal instructions, and proficiency in PC skills
