Direct Support Professional (Day Habilitation)

PositionSummary
The Direct Support Professional provides individuals with developmental disabilities with skill development through combined community and classroom learning experiences.
LocationMetropolitan Avenue, Middle Village (Queens)
CompensationMinimum and maximum salary: $19.00 / hr. Overtime eligible.
Responsibilities- Assist each consumer in skill development in areas such as independent living, adaptive behaviors, socialization, recreation, and activities of daily living.
- Supervise consumers in the community, using various experiences to reinforce skills taught in group sessions while ensuring safety.
- Lead group sessions and facilitate discussions to provide learning skills for community use.
- Provide annual and semi‑annual progress reports on valued outcomes.
- Assess the needs of lower functioning and/or non‑verbal consumers through observations and evaluations; develop and address their valued outcomes.
- Ensure compliance with valued outcomes in the Individual Service Plan (ISP) and Day Habilitation Plan.
- Document weekly outcomes worked on with each individual per their Day Habilitation Plan.
- High School Diploma or GED required;
Associate’s Degree preferred. - At least one year of direct‑care experience with adults having developmental disabilities.
- AMAP certified, SCIP‑R trained, CPR & First Aid trained.
