Nassau University Medical Center (NUMC), a 530-bed teaching hospital and Level I Trauma Center located just 30 miles from New York City, provides high-quality, essential healthcare to our diverse community.
Nassau University Medical Center is seeking an experienced Assistant Director of Pharmacy to assist with the leadership and daily operations of the Pharmacy Department. This position works closely with pharmacy leadership to ensure safe, efficient, and compliant pharmaceutical services throughout the organization.
In this role, you will:
- Support daily pharmacy operations, personnel supervision, staff development, workflow optimization, quality improvement, and implementation of pharmacy policies and procedures.
- Support pharmaceutical procurement, inventory, storage, distribution, utilization controls, regulatory compliance, reporting, recordkeeping, and 340B program requirements.
- Provide pharmaceutical information to clinical staff and participate in hospital committees and initiatives to promote safe and effective medication use.
- Support the implementation, integration, maintenance, and optimization of pharmacy systems, electronic health record functionality, medication orders, clinical decision support, automation, interfaces, and medication-use technologies.
- Oversee automated dispensing systems and pharmacy IT operations, and serve as a liaison among Pharmacy, IT, clinical departments, vendors, and other stakeholders to support safe, efficient medication-use systems.
We require:
- Current Valid New York State Pharmacist License
- At least four (4) years of pharmacy experience, includingtwo (2) years in an administrative or supervisory role
- Hospital or health-system pharmacy experience, with strong knowledge of federal and New York State pharmacy regulations
- Experience in pharmacy informatics, pharmacy operations, and staff supervision preferred
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and data analysis and familiarity with BD Pyxis or similar automated medication systems
- Strong organizational, communication, leadership, and analytical skills
