The Bureau of Public Health Clinics (BPHC) Sexually Transmitted Infections (STI) has the mission of improving the sexual heath of all New Yorkers. To achieve this the Bureau provides direct clinic services to people seeking sexual health care, and services to sex partners; monitors disease trends; provides education and training to providers and community groups, conducts research and develop policies to improve sexual health and wellness.

The BPHC STI operates 8 Sexual Health Clinics throughout New York City (NYC). The BPHC STI is requesting to hire a City Research Scientist, L3/Program Implementation Lead who will report directly to Senior Director of Programs.

DUTIES WILL INCLUDE BUT NOT BE LIMITED TO:
  • Coordinate planning for new programs, grant activities, services, initiatives, and major changes to existing clinic operations.
  • Collaborate with cross departmental teams to assess needs, develop implementation plans, create timelines, and design workflows and tracking tools.
  • Organize and support facilitation of training, communications, and other readiness activities required to successfully implement new initiatives.
  • Monitor implementation progress and proactively identify, upscale, and resolve operational barriers.
  • Support the transition of new initiatives into routine clinic workflows and ongoing monitoring structures.
  • Evaluate methods, procedures, and data obtained from implementation to assess program outcomes.
  • Studies and evaluates literature in implementation science and apply evidence based interventions and scientific knowledge to program planning processes.
  • Disseminate results of program evaluation through abstracts, webinars, presentations, manuscripts or other relevant products.
  • Conduct and contribute to evaluation activities, including data collection, performance tracking, and reporting of outcomes.
  • Participate in the Division of Disease Control’s Mentorship Program, serving as a mentor to individuals interested in program implementation
PREFERRED

SKILLS:
  • Strong project management skills, including development of implementation plans, timelines, and tracking systems.
  • Ability to facilitate cross-functional collaboration and build effective working relationships across divisions.
  • Experience in program implementation, change management, or operational rollout in public health or healthcare settings.
  • Skill in problem-solving and navigating barriers in complex organizational environments.
  • Proficiency with evaluation methods, data interpretation, and using findings to shape implementation strategies.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to tailor information for different audiences.
  • Experience coordinating training or readiness activities for staff or partners.
  • Ability to manage multiple initiatives simultaneously while maintaining attention to detail.
  • Commitment to health equity, social justice, and ensuring that new initiatives are designed and implemented in ways that reduce disparities and improve access for communities who have been historically disenfranchised by health care systems.
