Position Summary:

LGBT Network seeks passionate and motivated candidates for a Part-Time, Temporary Testing Specialist, in the Health Promotion Unit , with a focus on the delivery of HIV prevention, testing, and linkage to care services. This position is responsible for two main activities: recruitment for and delivery of HIV services and additional health promotion services. The Testing Specialist works out of the Queens LGBT Community Center (Q-Center) in Astoria, and reports to the Program Manager for Health Promotion.

The schedule for this position is 20 hours per week, including weekday and weekend evenings. This is a temporary, part-time position ending on March 31 st 2027.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities:

Delivery of HIV Services

Deliver HIV/STD testing through center drop-in, at off-site community events, and mobile testing (HIV/STD testing experience is not required as training is provided)

Conduct targeted outreach to people at risk for HIV, people living with HIV, and other special populations in the LGBT Community (with a strong focus on engaging young transgender people of color) through community, street, and digital/online efforts;

Conduct follow-up and program promotion face-to-face, via virtual, phone, e-mail, and text platforms with the goal of engaging more people in Health Promotion Services

Additional Health Promotion Services & Other Responsibilities

Connect people to medical services, medical coverage, and other services to address any needs that adversely affect their health

Deliver supplies for condom distribution to the community

Assist in the preparation and facilitation of assigned group programs including, but not limited to, regularly scheduled weekly and monthly programs, social events, cultural activities, and one-time special events

Other duties as assigned

Qualification Requirements:

Bilingual in English and Spanish preferred

HIV/STI testing certifications preferred but not required. Training is provided.

Flexible work schedule a must, as this position requires working evenings and some weekends for in-person events, services, and outreach activities

Awareness of, and commitment to, the LGBTQ community overall, and the trans and non-binary communities in particular

One or more years of relevant work experience in the non-profit field, or lived experience in lieu of non-profit employment preferred;

Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment

Passion and motivation to be a part of the LGBT Network movement to help LGBT people to be themselves, stay healthy, and change the world
