OverviewThe Chatwal Lodge, located in White Lake, NY, is seeking a talented Sous Chef to lead the culinary team. This full‑time position reports to the Executive Chef and may assume overall kitchen operations in the Executive Chef’s absence. The role requires monitoring daily kitchen functions, supporting and guiding the culinary staff, and ensuring a positive guest experience.
Responsibilities- Support senior leadership by developing and assuming basic management responsibilities.
- Act as liaison between all culinary departments and other hotel departments.
- Supervise the preparation and cooking of various food items.
- Develop and implement creative menu items that adhere to Hyatt brand standards.
- Plan, coordinate, and implement special events and holiday functions.
- Manage hourly kitchen employees through scheduling, payroll, training, coaching, evaluating, and hiring.
- May manage other key culinary leadership roles, including supervisor and other less senior Sous Chefs.
- Lead and coach the team toward achieving exceptional guest service and employee satisfaction results.
- Monitor food production, ordering, cost, and quality and consistency on a daily basis.
- Ensure proper safety and sanitation of all kitchen facilities and equipment.
- In‑depth skills and knowledge of all kitchen operations.
- Ability to produce a consistent product in a timely manner.
- Culinary education and/or on‑the‑job training; hotel experience preferred.
- Demonstrated ability to interact effectively with people of diverse backgrounds.
- Service‑oriented style with professional presentation skills.
- At least 4 years of experience in a senior culinary role.
- High energy, entrepreneurial spirit, motivational leadership, proven track record in high‑volume property, effective communicator, and ability to improve the bottom line.
- Clear, concise written and verbal communication skills in English.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel.
- Valid NYS Driver’s License.

Starting salary: $65,000 (actual pay commensurate with experience).
