Human Resources Generalist role at Hazen and Sawyer

Job Summary:

The HR Generalist aligns business objectives with employees and management in designated business units. The position serves as a consultant on human resource-related issues, acts as an employee champion and change agent, assesses and anticipates HR needs, and proactively communicates with HR and management to deliver value-added services that reflect organizational objectives.

Key Responsibilities
  • Trusted advisor to leadership teams across geographic regions, providing HR guidance.
  • Provides day-to-day performance management guidance to management (coaching, counseling, career development, disciplinary actions).
  • Works closely with management and employees to improve work relationships, build morale, and increase engagement and retention.
  • Provides HR policy guidance and interpretation.
  • Analyzes trends and metrics in partnership with the HR group to develop solutions, programs, and policies.
  • Manages and resolves complex employee relations issues and conducts effective, thorough, and objective investigations.
  • Conducts exit interviews and provides guidance and advice regarding feedback and trends.
  • Maintains in-depth knowledge of legal requirements related to day-to-day management of employees, reducing legal risks and ensuring regulatory compliance, partnering with the legal department as needed.
  • Performs other related duties as required and assigned.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field.
  • 6+ years of experience in an HR Generalist role.
  • Strong knowledge of HR laws, regulations, and best practices.
  • Critical and strategic thinking skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple priorities.
  • Proficiency in HRIS and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Ability to handle multiple projects and deadlines.
  • SHRM Certified Professional (SHRM-CP) or SHRM Senior Certified Professional (SHRM-SCP) credential preferred.
Preferred Skills
  • Experience with employee relations, conflict resolution, organizational development, and/or change management.
  • Knowledge of benefits administration.
  • Analytical skills for HR metrics and reporting.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to build and maintain positive relationships with colleagues.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
