Founding Recruiter

Build and own the recruiting function at a seed-stage public sector AI software startup. As the first dedicated in-house recruiter, you will partner directly with the CEO to attract and close talent across technical and forward-deployed roles, helping the team grow at a fast pace.

• Own full-cycle recruiting, from creative sourcing and outreach through interviews and offer closing.
• Develop inventive sourcing strategies to reach strong engineering, AI and machine learning, and forward-deployed candidates.
• Manage a high-volume pipeline, conduct multiple candidate screens per day, and maintain a high bar for talent quality.
• Build repeatable recruiting systems, scorecards, and playbooks using Ashby and AI tools.
• Communicate the company's mission and opportunity to candidates throughout the recruiting process.

• Two to six years of recruiting experience, including experience at a high-growth startup.
• A strong technical recruiting background, with experience sourcing and closing engineering candidates, including FDE, FDPM, or AI/ML roles.
• Demonstrated success finding candidates through creative sourcing methods, beyond relying on established processes alone.
• Comfort working at high speed, moving candidates through a recruiting cycle quickly, and managing substantial daily call volume.
• Experience with Ashby, Claude, or other AI sourcing tools is relevant.
• Willingness to work on-site in New York City five days per week.

Annual salary range: $140,000 to $220,000. Visa sponsorship is available. Relocation support is provided.
