About the Opportunity

We are partnering with a rapidly growing, multi-site and multi-entity organization to identify a highly experienced HR professional to help build and formalize its HR function.

This is an exciting opportunity for an HR leader who thrives in an entrepreneurial, evolving environment and enjoys creating structure, implementing scalable processes, and serving as a trusted advisor to leadership and employees.

The ideal candidate will bring strong knowledge of New York employment law, employee relations, benefits, compliance, and HR operations, along with experience supporting a growing organization with multiple locations and employee populations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Help build and formalize a comprehensive HR function within a rapidly growing, multi-entity organization.
  • Develop and implement scalable HR processes, policies, procedures, and employee resources in an evolving environment.
  • Serve as a subject matter expert on New York employment laws and regulations, including FMLA, Paid Family Leave (PFL), employee relations, and compliance.
  • Assess complex HR matters and determine when to engage legal counsel, insurance carriers, brokers, or other external resources.
  • Lead benefits administration, including open enrollment planning, timelines, employee communications, and evaluation of enhanced benefit offerings.
  • Drive proactive employee relations initiatives, including performance management, disciplinary processes, documentation, and policy enforcement.
  • Support a diverse workforce consisting of hourly, salaried, per diem, part-time, and healthcare professional employees with varying compensation structures.
  • Manage HR operations across 10+ locations and multiple legal entities.
  • Oversee onboarding, employee transfers between locations, timekeeping processes, and workforce administration.
  • Partner with leadership to improve organizational structure, employee experience, and HR compliance as the organization continues to scale.
  • Support recruiting and workforce planning initiatives, including periods of significant growth and hiring.
  • Identify opportunities to improve HR infrastructure, processes, communication, and employee engagement.
Qualifications
  • 6–8+ years of progressive HR experience, preferably in a multi-site or multi-entity environment.
  • Strong knowledge of New York employment law, including FMLA, Paid Family Leave, employee relations, and compliance requirements.
  • Demonstrated experience building or formalizing HR processes within a growing organization.
  • Experience supporting multiple locations, business units, or legal entities.
  • Strong employee relations and conflict-resolution skills.
  • Experience with benefits administration and open enrollment.
  • Ability to work effectively with hourly, salaried, part-time, per diem, and professional employee populations.
  • Strong understanding of HR compliance, documentation, policies, and best practices.
  • Excellent judgment and the ability to recognize when outside legal or professional guidance is needed.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to build trust across all levels of an organization.
  • Highly organized with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, evolving environment.
  • Comfortable operating in an environment where processes and infrastructure are still being developed.
Ideal Candidate

The ideal candidate is a hands-on HR professional and builder who is comfortable creating structure where it doesn't yet exist. You should be equally comfortable advising leadership on complex employee matters, developing HR processes, supporting employees, and helping shape the organization's HR strategy as it grows.

This is an opportunity to make a significant impact on the development of an HR function within a growing, multi-entity organization.
