Human Resources Director
Salary: $125,000 - $150,000/annually + Bonus
Location:
Melville, NY

HR Department Building & Process Scaling
- Partner with executive leadership to formalize, structure, and scale a centralized HR department from the ground up.
- Develop and implement scalable HR processes, policies, standard operating procedures, and employee resources in a high-growth environment.
- Continuously evaluate and refine organizational structures, HR workflows, and employee engagement initiatives.
Compliance & Multi-Entity Operations
- Serve as the primary subject matter expert on New York employment laws, labor regulations, FMLA, Paid Family Leave (PFL), compliance, and employee relations.
- Manage HR operations, workforce administration, and compliance across 10+ locations and multiple business entities.
- Identify complex legal or operational risks and know when to strategically engage legal counsel, insurance carriers, brokers, or external advisors.
Employee Relations & Workforce Management
- Lead proactive employee relations initiatives, including performance management systems, disciplinary actions, documentation, and policy enforcement.
- Support a dynamic, multi-disciplinary workforce consisting of hourly, salaried, per diem, part-time, and specialized healthcare professionals.
- Oversee onboarding, cross-location employee transfers, timekeeping systems, and general workforce logistics.
Benefits Administration & Hiring Support
- Lead full-cycle benefits administration, including strategy, open enrollment planning, broker management, employee communications, and plan evaluations.
- Partner with management on recruitment, talent acquisition, and strategic workforce planning during high-growth periods.
- Experience: 5+ years of progressive HR generalist or management experience, ideally within a multi-entity or multi-site environment (10+ locations preferred).
- Domain Expertise: Demonstrated success building or formalizing HR infrastructure, processes, and policies in a fast-growing company.
- Legal & Regulatory Knowledge: Deep understanding of New York state and federal labor laws, FMLA, Paid Family Leave, and general HR compliance.
- Workforce Adaptability: Proven experience supporting mixed workforce populations (hourly, exempt, per diem, healthcare professionals) across complex compensation structures.
- Benefits & Vendors: Prior experience leading benefits open enrollment and managing relationships with external legal counsel, brokers, and carriers.
- Skills & Mindset: Strong problem-solving ability, exceptional communication skills, and a proactive, roll-up-your-sleeves approach to operational growth.
