Persistent Systems is looking for a Linux Systems Administrator to join our team at our headquarters in NYC. The Linux Systems Administrator will play a critical role in ensuring our Linux servers and systems are configured and running optimally, solving complex database problems, and contributing to the overall success of the organization. • Design and manage the installation, configuration and maintenance of Linux servers and workstations.
• Provide technical support for computer network issues.
• Collaborate with others to resolve information technology issues.
• Design integrated computer systems.
• Test computer hardware performance.
• Test software performance.
• Document operational activities.
• Install computer hardware.
• Install new/rebuild existing servers and configure hardware, peripherals, services, settings, directories, and storage in accordance with best practices.
• Perform system monitoring, integrity verification, and ensure availability of hardware, server resources, and key processes.
• Perform regular security monitoring to identify intrusions.
• Create, execute, and maintain data backup plans.
• Ensure all required file systems and system data are successfully backed up to appropriate media.
• Create, change, and/or delete user accounts as required.
• Manage hardware/software asset management and deployment for new and existing employees.
• Provide help desk support and resolve issues for end-users.

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science or related field.
• Proficiency with Bash, Python, or a UNIX‑oriented scripting language focused on automation.
• Minimum of 6 years of systems administration experience in a small to medium‑sized business’s IT team.
• Experience working in a Linux environment as a system administrator.
• Familiarity with basic networking (IP addresses, routing, firewalls).
• Familiarity with configuration management tools.
• Must have a US Security Clearance or be able to obtain one.

• Master’s degree in computer science or related field.
• 10 years of systems administration experience.
• Experience in Ansible.
• CompTIA Linux+ Certification.
• Experience working in an Enterprise Linux environment with any distribution.
• Experience with LUKS encryption and LVM management at scale.
• SELinux or App Armor Endpoint Management.
• Containerization experience with Docker or equivalent (huge plus).
• Server Endpoint Automation and Deployment with Kubernetes or equivalent.
• CompTIA Server+ Certification.
• Red Hat Certified Engineer Certification.

The total compensation for this role can vary from $125,000 to $156,000 per year based on individual qualifications. Eligibility for yearly discretionary bonus.
