Software Engineer; Full Stack

Compensation: $180k-$260k base + 0.1%-0.4% equity (depending on seniority)

We’re hiring a Software Engineer to join our in‑house engineering team. You’ll report directly to Carter (CTO) and will be responsible for owning features from the requirements definition stage to production.

• Own products end-to-end
  : discovery → definition → design/UX → implementation → launch → iteration.
• Write production‑grade Type Script across the stack (React/Next.js on the front‑end; Node.js on the back‑end) while following best practices.
• Build and maintain internal tools that make our team faster.
• Ship features across our external sites and webapps
  , including Space – our founder portal – and public marketing surfaces.
• Craft polished UIs with React and our internal component library; contribute components and patterns back to the library.
• Integrate third‑party APIs (auth, payments, email) and own data models, caching, and performance.
• Raise the bar on engineering quality
  : code reviews, CI/CD, reliability, and accessibility.

• Product‑minded builder who can turn ambiguous problems into shipped software without a dedicated PM or designer.
• Deep experience with Type Script, React, and Node.js
  ; familiarity with Next.js and a modern database (e.g., Postgres/Prisma) is a plus.
• Taste for UX/UI and the ability to sketch flows or lightweight wireframes before coding.
• Hands‑on IC orientation with a strong ownership bias: you set priorities, move fast, and sweat details.
• Extremely high‑agency

• Comfortable using modern AI tools to move faster.
• NYC‑based or willing to relocate (non‑negotiable).

• Standout Git Hub
  : notable open‑source projects, meaningful contributions, or traction.
• Design‑engineering portfolio showing polished UI work, component systems, and attention to accessibility/performance.
• Founder or early team member of a VC‑backed startup that raised millions in funding.
• SWE at Meta, Stripe, OpenAI, or another category‑defining tech company.
• Clear signals of exceptional ability: competitive gaming/esports (chess, MtG, Star Craft), Math/Physics Olympiad medalist, top academic background (Harvard/Stanford/MIT), professional sports athlete, etc.

• Not willing to get hands dirty: doesn’t matter how important you were in past organizations; at Alliance we’re all builders, not managers (even though many of us were managers in past lives).
• Prioritizing work/life balance: this role demands focus, hunger, and a career‑defining level of commitment. You must be locked in.
• Low agency: if you need someone else to set your priorities or keep you on track, you will fail.
