At Datadog, we’re on a mission to bring security and observability together for modern organizations. Bits AI for Security is our AI-powered assistant that leverages large language models (LLMs) to help analysts investigate alerts, understand threats, and respond faster. We’re looking for an Engineering Manager I to lead the team building the next generation of AI-driven security capabilities.
This is a unique opportunity to combine security expertise with GenAI/LLM innovation, helping shape how AI empowers security analysts worldwide.
At Datadog, we place value in our office culture - the relationships that it builds, the creativity it brings to the table, and the collaboration of being together. We operate as a hybrid workplace to ensure our employees can create a work-life harmony that best fits them.
What You’ll Do- Lead and grow a talented engineering team working at the intersection of security, AI, and product innovation.
- Partner closely with product managers, security experts, and AI researchers to design and deliver AI Agents (LLM-powered) that drive real value for our customers.
- Guide the team in building production-ready systems that combine Datadog’s security platform with GenAI models, agents, and retrieval-augmented generation (RAG) pipelines.
- Coach and develop senior engineers and managers, fostering a culture of high performance, inclusion, and psychological safety.
- Own the delivery of critical product initiatives, ensuring technical excellence, reliability, and alignment with Datadog’s high bar for security.
- Participate in hiring and organizational planning for future growth.
- Promote best practices in machine learning, AI engineering, operational standards, and career development across the organization.
- An experienced technical leader with a strong background in AI, machine learning, or data science.
- Experience leading and mentoring multiple teams, including senior engineers and engineering managers.
- Knowledgeable about LLM technologies (prompt engineering, fine-tuning, RAG, agents) and how to apply them in real-world, production-grade systems.
- Comfortable with backend or full-stack development in a cloud-based SaaS environment.
- Strong in communication and collaboration, able to align engineers, product managers, and researchers around shared goals.
- A strong people manager, able to attract, develop, and retain top AI and engineering talent.
- Excited to work in the security domain, with an understanding of how analysts investigate threats and alerts (security background is a strong plus).
- Hands‑on experience with LLM frameworks (Lang Chain, Llama Index, OpenAI API, Hugging Face, etc.).
- Contributions to AI/ML infrastructure or applied GenAI products.
- Experience scaling products in a high-growth SaaS environment.
- You’ll be at the forefront of AI applied to security, shaping how analysts use GenAI to work smarter and faster.
- You’ll lead a highly motivated team at Datadog, collaborating across product, AI research, and security domains.
- You’ll have the chance to work on cutting‑edge GenAI/LLM challenges with real-world impact.
