THE WORK
Designs, plans, engineers, and maintains classified network communications systems. Provides specifications and detailed schematics for network architecture. Provides specific detailed information for hardware and software selection, implementation techniques and tools for the most efficient solution to meet business and program needs, including present and future capacity requirements. Conducts testing of network design. Maintains technical expertise in all areas of network and computer hardware and software interconnection and interfacing, such as switches, routers, firewalls, gateways, etc.

Evaluates and reports on new communications technologies to enhance capabilities of the network.

Key Responsibilities:

• Deploy, configure, and manage networking systems across all classified networking environments.

• Implement and maintain security controls, in accordance with DISA (Defense Information Systems Agency) STIG (Security Technical Implementation Guides)

• Monitor networking system operation, health, and performance; troubleshoot complex issues to minimize downtime.

• Collaborate with program stakeholders to obtain networking requirements
• Collaborate with cybersecurity to enforce security standards, respond to incidents, and support classified network requirements.

• Document configurations, procedures, and security implementations; provide clear communication and training to cross functional teams. The successful candidate will be a proactive, security focused engineer who can bridge the gap between network administration, network operations, and cybersecurity to sustain Lockheed Martin's high assurance classified networks.

Basic Qualifications:

• Ability to obtain a DoD Security Clearance.

• Understanding of OSI or TCP/IP models.

• OSI Layer 2 knowledge: VLANs, ARP, CDP, and trunking.

• OSI Layer 3 knowledge: IP addressing and IP routing concepts.

• 3+ years of experience planning, building, installing and troubleshooting network infrastructure.
