Smart Contract Engineer

Smart Contract Engineer on a 6+ month contract with BNY Financial Services. Work from New York City office on a hybrid schedule (4 days onsite). Design, develop and secure smart contracts that power tokenization, custody, and settlement solutions in a regulated financial environment.

• Design and implement secure, efficient smart contracts for tokenization and digital asset workflows.
• Collaborate with product, architecture, and enterprise systems teams to integrate contracts with EVM-compatible chains.
• Conduct code reviews, enforce best practices and maintain compliance with internal security standards.
• Implement automated testing frameworks to ensure robust, error‑free contract deployments.
• Work closely with cybersecurity teams and external vendors to identify and address vulnerabilities.
• Optimize performance for scalability and high‑volume transaction throughput.

• 3+ years of development experience in blockchain and smart contracts.
• Proficiency in Solidity and smart contract development.
• Experience with Ethereum, Hyperledger Besu, and other EVM-based platforms.
• Strong understanding of tokenization standards (EIP‑7702, EIP‑712, ERC‑1451).
• Knowledge of cryptographic principles, MPC, and secure key management.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science.

• Experience in financial services or regulated environments.
• Integration with custody and settlement systems.
• Agile development practices and Dev Sec Ops  experience.
• Certifications such as C4 Ethereum Developer or Cyfrin Smart Contract.
• Familiarity with Java, Spring Boot, and enterprise software integrations.
