Location: New York
Job Description
OAS is responsible for providing strategic operational, analytical, and systems support services to the DSS-AO, across the Department of Social Services (DSS), and to its collaborating agencies outside of DSS, ensuring data driven efficiencies are effectively implemented.
Within OAS, Systems manages the full lifecycle of technical project delivery for their DSS-AO customers. DSS-AO-Systems develops, maintains and enhances systems. It also builds, maintains and expands data match resources. As well as, designing and maintaining customized databases.
Responsibilities- Design, develop and implement redundant systems, policies, and procedures to support complex business applications, such as ALERTS.
- Coordinate with application developers so application user interface is supported by database for optimal performance.
- Lead the design, development and implementation efforts of new data matching initiatives from various internal and external entities.
- Develop user-friendly ways for developers and end users to consume the data from data repositories. Maintain and troubleshoot the ongoing data transfer procedures as issues arise.
- Design and implement redundant systems, policies, and procedures for database recovery and data archiving to ensure effective protection, maximum availability and integrity of data assets.
- Coordinate with project managers and project teams to plan out scheduling of work activities. Provide feedback on project plans and adhere to delivery schedules. Report status and issues.
- Coordinate with Information Technology Services (ITS) teams to implement the planned installation and/or upgrade of new database software releases. Assist with monitoring and performance tuning of agency databases and data warehouse to improve system response time.
- Assist application developers with testing and remediation of software releases.
- Conduct research and make recommendations on database products, services, protocols, and standards in support of development efforts, business operational and executive management needs.
- Create and maintain documentation of all production policies, procedures, server configurations, error logs, maintenance records and product troubleshooting instructions using standard source control tools.

Qualifications- A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college, and two years of satisfactory full-time (not classroom based) experience in database administration planning, design, configuration, installation, troubleshooting, integration, performance monitoring, maintenance, enhancement, and security management; or
- A four-year high school diploma or its educational equivalent and six years of satisfactory full-time (not classroom based) information technology experience of which at least 2 years must have been as described in 1 above; or
- A masters degree in computer science or a related field from an accredited college may substitute for one year of experience. However, all candidates must have at least one year of satisfactory full-time (not classroom based) information technology experience as described in 1 above.
