Job Title: IT Support Engineer – Full Time (NY OFFICE)

Position Summary

The Beggars Group New York is seeking an IT Support Engineer who will provide IT onsite and remote support of computer hardware, operating systems, and application software. The IT Support Engineer should possess a strong customer service orientation, sound technical skills, integrity and a passion for excellence. The right candidate will be extremely detail-oriented, able to multi-task in a friendly environment of around 270 employees globally, 70 in New York and 10 in LA.

This position reports to Global IT Operations Manager, located in the UK office.

You will be an integral part of the company as the onsite service desk support for users, liaising and managing relationships with third parties, as well as being hands‐on with projects. This is a great opportunity for an enthusiastic, hands‐on, actively excited IT professional to learn about and own the service delivery for a pivotal IT Support role at this exciting company.

Key Responsibilities
  • Ensure that IT, service desk, business systems, phones, network and software applications run smoothly for all NY/LA/other US remote users
  • The ‘Go To’ person for NY/LA/other US remote staff at all levels for IT issues, responsible for troubleshooting/diagnosing, predicting and resolving IT issues to the highest level of customer satisfaction
  • Work closely daily with UK IT team and the UK‑based vendors (e.g. ISP for US offices, firewall, remote server hosting)
  • Local point of contact for network and server infrastructure located in NY/LA (e.g. “hands” to enable suppliers to carry out work on Beggars’ behalf) supported by rest of the IT team
  • Manage and maintain IT procedures e.g. business/staff changes (joiners/leavers), and to suggest/advise on new procedures and initiatives to ensure the firm uses IT to optimal effect
  • Ensure that all incidents, problems and changes are raised, prioritised and tracked in Zendesk, responding proactively and according to the priority
  • Manage IT‑related office facilities, including AV conferencing facilities in multiple locations, printers, physical cabling, comms room and power sources
  • Ensure IT requirements are met and in place for meetings and events when required by the business
  • Basic user management in Office/Exchange 365 and Active Directory services
  • Deployment and maintenance of Netskope installations
  • Run or support occasional mini projects (e.g. software rollouts, server upgrades)
Qualifications
  • At least 3 years’ experience in a similar role providing company-wide IT Support services, ideally within an Apple‑centric environment
  • Experience supporting computers and peripherals, particularly Mac OS and iOS, with some Windows (desktop and server). Confident with business applications such as O365
  • Experience supporting videoconferencing across all major platforms:
    Zoom, MS Teams
  • Experience supporting videoconferencing on Cisco room kit hardware a major plus
  • A self‑starter with great time management skills and a willingness to go the extra mile to solve end‑user issues deskside and remotely
  • Experience solving complex technical issues in hardware and cloud‑based systems
  • Experience of software and hardware configuration
  • Good knowledge of system security and procedures for protecting data
  • Excellent communication skills / ‘bedside manner’, with a passion for making sure users have the tools they need to excel at what they do
  • Excellent troubleshooting, creative and technical problem‑solving skills, always seeking out the best practice for issue prevention
  • Awareness of costs, seeking to ensure that Beggars get great ‘bang for buck’ for our technology spend
  • Evidence of the completion of technical courses in hardware and software packages
  • Basic understanding of networking principles and how LAN/WAN/WIFI’s work
