The New York City Police Department’s Information Technology Services Division (ITSD) is actively seeking a highly qualified and motivated Certified IT Administrator (LAN/WAN) IV. In this role, the candidate will play a crucial part in supporting the Department by collaborating across various ITSD Sections, ensuring seamless integration between different environments and applications. Responsibilities include assisting ITSD with planning and coordinating the implementation of cutting‑edge technology and serving as a liaison between ITSD and the Information Security Division.
ITSD oversees critical projects and technological initiatives within the NYPD, maintaining and enhancing the department’s IT infrastructure—networks, servers, and workstations. Notably, the ITSD has rolled out various advancements, such as equipping officers with cellular phone applications and digitizing department forms to improve efficiency. The Certified IT Administrator (LAN/WAN) IV role is pivotal in maintaining the NYPD’s technological edge and promoting safety and effectiveness in law‑enforcement operations.
Job Duties- Manage Azure Active Directory tenants, including two in Azure Government Cloud.
- Provide technical leadership and guidance in Identity and Access for 60+ NYC agencies.
- Work closely with NYC Cyber Command to establish policies that improve the security posture of services provided.
- Design and deploy Centrify Server Suite to provide MFA and privilege elevation access to Windows and Linux servers.
- Collaborate with the NYC Cyber Command IAM team to design and build platform infrastructure and test platform features.
- Lead the rollout of Azure AD services such as MFA, Privilege Identity Management, Identity Management, Identity Protection, SSPR and more.
- Transition SSO services from legacy IdP platform to Azure AD.
- Establish policies and workflows to streamline access to numerous services and tools.

- Professional/vendor certification(s) in local area network administration (required).
- A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college and two years of satisfactory full‑time experience in LAN/WAN planning, design, configuration, installation, implementation, troubleshooting, integration, performance monitoring, maintenance, enhancement, and security management; or
- A four‑year high school diploma or equivalent and six years of satisfactory full‑time experience in IT, with at least two years in LAN/WAN as described above; or
- A satisfactory equivalent of education and/or experience.
- All candidates must have at least one year of satisfactory (not classroom‑based) full‑time IT experience as described in item 1.
- Expertise in Azure services, Privilege Identity Management, Identity Protection, and related technologies.
- Strong working knowledge of Windows Server 2019/2022 installation, configuration, and management.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
