SummaryThe primary purpose of this position is to design, implement, maintain, tune, and optimize all MTA databases to meet current and future software application requirements.
SQL Server Database Administrator is responsible for the administration of our SQL server footprint both on-site and in Azure. The DBA is pivotal for day-to-day configuration, maintenance, and performance of critical Microsoft SQL Server environments, ensuring integrity, performance, reliability, and recoverability of data for a wide variety of applications.
Critical Skills- Hands-on experience as a SQL Server Database Administrator including Design, implementation, monitoring, and maintenance of Microsoft SQL Server on-prem and in the cloud.
- Strong experience implementing High availability, Disaster recovery solutions.
- Strong knowledge with all aspects of database administration including database installations, upgrades, migrations, backup and recovery, monitoring, performance and query tuning, database security, optimization, and troubleshooting.
- Strong knowledge in Windows Server, SQL Server, Azure cloud platform including Azure SQL Managed Instance, Azure Storage account and Azure security.
- Experience in data archival, table partitioning, monitoring system performance, database replication
- Strong Knowledge of SQL. Knowledge of Python is preferred.
- Familiarity with SSIS, SSRS, SSAS.
- Strong problem-solving skills with a focus on logical troubleshooting.
- Certifications in Microsoft technologies are preferred
- Ability to work independently, as well as in a team environment Strong verbal and writing skills
- Assist with the design, installation, configuration, and maintenance of database technologies and resources to ensure that all MTA application and system availability targets are met.
- Perform database administration tasks, including but not limited to defining data process flows, data modeling, data migrations, security, and fine tuning database performance.
- Assist with the installation, configuration, and maintenance of database software modules and applications.
- Assist with the development of system backup schedules, verification testing, and all related documentation requirements.
- Work with system administrators, network administrators, help desk staff, and other IT technical resources to coordinate database infrastructure requirements and analyze/troubleshoot issues as they arise.
- Ensure all required system documentation and record keeping requirements associated with maintaining and controlling IT assets are completed accurately, timely, and in accordance with MTA policies and procedures and department requirements.
- Participate in the evaluation of new database products and technologies.
Same as Level 1 with the following additional responsibilities:
- Design, installation, configuration, and maintenance of database technologies and resources to ensure that all MTA application and system availability targets are met.
- Design, configure, and install database software modules and applications.
- Guide less senior database technicians and staff in the performance of their tasks
Same as Level 2 with the following additional responsibilities:
- Develop system backup schedules, verification testing, and all related documentation requirements.
- Design and engineer solutions and standards to be applied within the IT Department.
- Assist with the physical planning associated with the installation of database technology.
Same as Level 3 with the following additional responsibilities:
- Participate in the evaluation of new database products and technologies and influence future direction, and provide input into the overall impact of introducing the technology in the MTA environment.
