Position

Summary

Vertex is seeking experienced disputes and investigations professionals to support complex litigation, arbitration, regulatory, investigative, and consulting matters. While healthcare expertise is highly valued, our roles support a broad range of data-driven disputes, investigations, and litigation matters across industries.

The role will support complex litigation, investigations, regulatory reviews, and advisory engagements involving large and complex datasets. This team works closely with attorneys, expert witnesses, and client stakeholders to develop defensible analyses and clear, well-supported conclusions. Engagements may support privileged consulting work, expert testimony, or regulatory matters. Experience with healthcare payment, reimbursement, and compliance issues is preferred but not required.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform quantitative analyses of large and complex datasets to support litigation, investigations, arbitration, and regulatory matters.
  • Develop clear, well-documented work papers, reports, presentations, and other client deliverables that communicate findings and conclusions.
  • Support expert witness engagements, including data analysis, report development, deposition preparation, and testimony support.
  • Manage day-to-day project execution, including work planning, document requests, quality control, timelines, and coordination with clients and counsel.
  • Collaborate with attorneys, experts, consultants, and client personnel to identify issues, develop analyses, and address evolving case needs.
  • Assist in matters involving healthcare reimbursement, claims payment, contract disputes, False Claims Act investigations, class actions, coverage disputes, and regulatory compliance reviews.
  • Serve as a trusted advisor to clients, attorneys, and experts on quantitative issues central to disputes and investigations.
Qualifications
  • Generally requires a bachelor's degree in a quantitative discipline and 6-8 years of related experience or a Master's degree and 8 years of related experience.
  • Demonstrated experience supporting litigation, investigations, disputes, regulatory reviews, or forensic consulting engagements.
  • Excellent written communication skills with the ability to develop reports and explain complex analytical findings to legal, technical, and executive audiences.
  • Demonstrated project management skills, including managing multiple work streams, deadlines, and stakeholder expectations.
  • Experience with healthcare payment and reimbursement matters, including claims analytics, managed care contracting, government programs, coding and billing, or regulatory compliance, preferred.
  • Proficiency with tools used for large-scale data extraction, transformation, management, analysis and visualization.
  • Experience with SQL, Python, R, and SAS preferred; familiarity with cloud-based data platforms and business intelligence and data visualization tools a plus.
