Loss Control Consultant Commercial Insurance – Independent Contractor - New York City, NY

Overview

EXL Risk Control is seeking experienced Loss Control Consultants with 10+ years of experience in commercial Property & Casualty Risk Control to perform on-site surveys and risk evaluations for insurance industry clients. This is an Independent Contractor role based in the New York City area, with travel to local commercial operations as needed.

• Schedule on-site surveys and provide risk evaluation and risk improvement reports to insurance industry clients.
• Prepare underwriting-ready reports that may include recommendations to control or correct loss-producing conditions.
• Manage accepted assignments, secure customer appointments within a local territory, and complete work on time.
• Work on special projects or more challenging risk evaluation surveys that utilize professional certifications and risk control skills.
• Assess risk for various commercial insurance lines of business (Property, General Liability, Workers’ Compensation, Auto/Fleet, Products Liability, Inland Marine, Builders Risk).
• Travel to and inspect insured businesses such as retail, restaurants, hotels, multi-location facilities, construction sites, manufacturers, churches, and schools.

• 10+ years of Risk Control Consulting experience, preferably with a major carrier or national brokerage.
• Experience in commercial insurance, inspections, or fire and safety assessments preferred.
• BS Degree in Engineering, Safety and/or the physical sciences preferred.
• CSP or ARM designations preferred but not required.
• Experience with Commercial Lines Property/Casualty Loss Control, Underwriting, and Claims is a plus.
