Senior Attorney, General Litigation – Con Edison

Base pay range: $17,000.00/yr - $/yr

The Senior Attorney is responsible for assisting other members of the Law Department in representing the Company before city, state and federal courts, arbitral tribunals, private mediations, and administrative agencies.

• Under the supervision of other Attorneys, perform litigation activities and other assigned matters involving the Company.
• Conduct research and prepare legal memoranda for other attorneys.
• Develop facts through interview of Company personnel and third parties, through document review, and other fact-finding techniques, utilizing Company investigators and paralegals where appropriate.
• Draft pleadings, motions, and discovery demands/responses.
• Participate in all stages of discovery, including identifying, gathering and analyzing documents, conducting depositions, and site inspections.
• Prepare and argue motions. Appear and represent the Company at court conferences.
• Assist in providing general legal advice to client organizations.
• Represent the Company at hearings and trials in cases involving greater complexity and exposure, as appropriate.
• Provide any other legal service related to Company operations.
• Manage a large caseload of cases involving greater complexity and exposure brought on behalf of or against the Company.
• Perform other related tasks and assignments as required.

• Juris Doctorate from a recognized Law School.

• Must be admitted to the New York bar, required.
• 8 years of relevant legal experience, required.

• Driver's License Required.

• The selected candidate will be assigned a System Emergency Assignment and will be expected to work non-business hours during emergencies, which may include nights, weekends, and holidays.
• Must be able and willing to travel within Company service territory, as needed.
